Greece, December 2024
In this post I will share the highlights from my recent December trip to Greece, during an off-season.
Athens
Monastiraki
Monastiraki which literally means "little monastery" is a neighborhood in old town of Athens. It's named after the Church of the Pantanassa located here. An 18th century-built Tzistarakis Mosque, which is currently a museum, is also located at Monastiraki square.
Panathenaic Stadium
The Panathenaic Stadium, located in Athens, Greece, is a historic venue originally built in the 4th century BC and reconstructed from marble in 1895 for the first modern Olympics.
The Parthenon
The Parthenon, situated atop Athens' Acropolis, is a masterpiece of ancient Greek architecture, built between in the 5th century BC. Originally dedicated to Athena, the city's patron goddess, this iconic structure has seen its fair share of history, transitioning from a temple to a treasury, and even serving as a mosque at one point.
